Tick pest control control

Ticks

  • Ticks are small, oval, and flattened creatures, with hard and leathery bodies when unfed.

  • Are most active in the spring as vegetation starts to grow.

  • By July or August (in higher elevations), adult or nymph ticks that haven't found hosts seek shelter to avoid summer heat.

  • Ticks are most abundant in brushy areas with sufficient vegetation to support various animals.

  • Tick bites can be dangerous due to the effects of the bite itself and the transmission of disease-causing microbes.

  • In Washington, ticks can transmit diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Lyme disease, tick-borne relapsing fever, and others.

Fleas

  • Fleas in or around the home are typically associated with dogs or cats.

  • Fleas are brown, laterally flattened insects known for their hopping abilities.

  • The same flea species that feeds on pets can also bite humans, causing itching and irritation.

  • Disease transmission by fleas is relatively infrequent in some areas, but fleas from rodents can carry and transmit diseases like plague.

  • Very small insects that are either white, black, gray, or blue that feed on decaying organic matter in or on the soil.

  • Many have the ability to hop or jump like fleas.

Treatment Recommendations:

  1. Outdoor lawn treatments such as a granule which can also be a preventative measure. 

  2.  Indoor treatments depending on severity of infestations.

  3. We provide efficient pest control services, including residual sprays and prevention and rapid control advice to keep your home or business earwig-free.

Control Measures:

  1. Regular and thorough vacuuming of all areas, including rugs, upholstered furniture, and cracks and crevices, is essential. Vacuum every third day for 2 weeks to eliminate many immature fleas.

  2. Dispose of the vacuum cleaner contents after use to prevent fleas from escaping.

  3. Pet Care: For fleas & ticks, shampoo pets with a flea/tick-killing soap or treat them with a product registered for flea & tick control. Combing the pet can physically remove many fleas. Wash and dry pet bedding or have it dry cleaned.

  4. Ask your veterinarian for recommendations on safe products to use on your pets for flea & tick control.

  5. Removing standing water & reducing how often you water lawns and other grassy areas.

Centipedes

  •  Pests of vegetables and plants in damp, organic-rich soils.

  • Long antennae, two flattened body regions, and 12 pairs of legs in the adult form. 

  • Considered pests of plants in suitable environments.

  • Can occasionally find their way indoors. Near water sources such under sinks.

Earwigs

  • Moderately sized insects, most active at night.

  • Mainly scavengers but occasionally herbivorous or predacious.

  •  Forceps (pinchers) at the end of the abdomen.

  • European earwig is a known species in the Pacific Northwest, occasionally a pest in gardens, ornamental trees, and houses.

  • Can over winter and break out into large populations.

House Cricket, Camel Crickets

  • Adults are medium-sized and large, often hard-bodied.

  • Most have two pairs of wings; hind legs are enlarged for jumping.

  • Plant feeders, some are destructive to vegetation.

  • chirping of crickets can be disrupting.

  • Camel Crickets when found indoors can feed on paper and books.

Craneflies

  • In the summer craneflies emerge and are long legged bouncy flies that resemble large mosquito.

  • Locally known as "mosquito eater" they however do not eat mosquitos and the larvae of craneflies actually consume the roots of your grass.

  • The Cranefly larvae are 1-inch-long brow maggots grow and eat grass roots, making lawn have brown-yellow patches in the summer.

  • Frequently live and feed around the roots of various plants.

  • Typically live outdoors, but may come indoors if attracted to food or light.

  • House flies watch and follow each other to find other food sources.

  • Can lay up to 500 eggs during its lifespan.  

  • House flies defecate a lot, spreading germs whenever they land.

  • Flies are attracted to food, garbage, and other unclean areas. They are also attracted to light.

Biting Midges
"Moose Flies OR No-See-Ums"

  • Midge Flies are hard to see and often can be seen in swarms.

  • Female midges do not bite.

  • Bites from midges can produce itching or swelling. People who are sensitive to insect bites may feel a burning sensation followed by red welts on their skin.

  • Often mistaken for mosquitoes. 

  • Lay eggs in standing water. Love lakes, ponds, riverbanks, and marshy areas.
