Brown banded Cockroach

Appearance: Similar in appearance to the German cockroach but lacks dark brown lengthwise stripes on the shield.

Only males can fly.

Behavior: Egg cases are light reddish-brown and usually attached in clusters. More likely to be found in private residences, especially in eastern Washington.

German Cockroach

Appearance: Adults are 1/2 inch long, pale brown, with two dark brown lengthwise stripes on the shield behind the head.

Behavior: most aggressive breeding cockroach in the pacific northwest nest and dwell where food and water is.

American Cockroach

Appearance: The largest cockroach species infesting dwellings in the Pacific Northwest.

Adults are one and a half inches long, reddish-brown to brown.

Behavior: Both sexes have well-developed wings, but they seldom fly.

Egg cases are dark brown and approximately 1/3 inch long, with 16 eggs in each.
